Design Writing Groups
Program Overview
The Design Writing Groups Program
Writing Space is pleased to announce Design Writing Groups for Spring 2025.
Scholarly writing is an integral part of many design faculty research agendas, but it can be daunting to work on writing projects in solitude. Writing groups offer accountability, structure, and support so that participants can move forward with their writing projects. Writing Space’s Spring 2025 biweekly, online Design Writing Groups will provide writing community and infrastructure, and, if desired, mentorship from and workshops led by experienced designers/writers, helping participants to advance an ongoing writing project and develop sustainable habits for maintaining an active writing practice in the future.
In addition to participating in video conference meetings every other week, writing group members will be responsible for presenting a writing/research plan, maintaining a writing log (or otherwise accounting for their work), and completing readings related to writing. Participants should be (1) willing to dedicate a serious, regular commitment to their writing group and (2) already immersed in a writing project.
Design Writing Groups are open to academics, researchers, and writers working in the field of design. Preference will be given to full-time faculty in communication design.
Sarah Rutherford, Aaris Sherin, and Maggie Taft direct the Design Writing Groups program.
